A Symphony of Green in Lola's Kitchen
Outside, the grey rain tapped gently against the windowpane, but inside Lola Rosa’s kitchen, everything felt wrapped in a cozy, golden warmth. Little Tala sat perched on her wooden stool, her eyes wide with wonder as her grandmother prepared their favourite comfort food: tinola.
"Look closely, anak," Lola smiled, holding up a vegetable. "This is chayote, a beautiful soft green like the grass after a fresh rain." Tala patted the smooth skin before Lola carefully sliced it into bite-sized wedges. Next came the pale yellow papaya and a rustic, earthy brown ginger root that filled the air with a spicy, tingling aroma. Finally, Tala helped toss in the vibrant emerald malunggay leaves, watching them swirl happily into the bubbling, creamy white chicken broth. Together, they turned cooking into a colourful, delicious masterpiece.
