The Lace Dancer of the Deep

The Lace Dancer of the Deep

Far below where the sunlight fades to twilight blue, there floats a jellyfish named Aurelia, unlike any other. Her translucent bell hums with a faint, pulsing glow, the colour of soft moonstone. Below her, instead of stinging barbs, drifts a magnificent curtain of long, flowing lace tentacles. The delicate, intricate patterns resemble frost on a winter window, but are actually woven from the finest gossamer filaments, shimmering like spun silver. As she rises toward the surface, the dark velvet indigo of the deep sea forms a perfect backdrop. She dances in the gentle currents, a beautiful, ghostly ballet of movement, leaving tiny, sparkling trails of bioluminescence in her wake.
