The Window Sill Parrot

The Window Sill Parrot

Pip, The Window Sill Parrot

Pip was no ordinary parrot. He lived on a window sill, not in a cage, and his favourite pastime was watching the world go by. His window sill was a riot of colour, with bright orange lantern flowers dangling like tiny bells and a pot of fluffy pink peony flowers that smelled like sunshine.

One sunny afternoon, Pip was admiring his reflection in the windowpane when a tiny, shimmering butterfly fluttered past. "Ooh, a new friend!" Pip chirped, ruffling his emerald green feathers. He tried to follow it, but the window was in the way. "Blast these invisible walls!" he squawked, much to the amusement of a passing squirrel.

Suddenly, a gust of wind blew a single, delicate peony petal onto his beak. Pip blinked. It was so soft, so pink, so... tasty? He gave it a tentative nibble. "Hmm, not quite as good as a sunflower seed," he decided, letting it float away.

Just then, a little girl with a colouring book walked by outside. She looked up and saw Pip, and her eyes lit up. Pip, feeling rather grand, puffed out his chest and gave a little bow. The girl giggled and waved. Pip waved back with his wing, nearly knocking over the pot of peonies. He wobbled, squawked, and then burst into a fit of giggles himself. Life on the window sill was never dull for Pip, the funny, flower-loving parrot.
