A Squeaky Surprise

A Squeaky Surprise

A Mousey Mishap with a Merry Ending

The tiny house, nestled beneath the floorboards of a grand old house, was abuzz with excitement. The Mouse family, led by the energetic Pip and his sister Pippa, were planning a surprise for their beloved Grandma Millie. They'd heard tales of the grand Christmas feasts of the humans upstairs and decided to replicate a mini-feast for their grandma.

With tiny paws and hearts full of hope, they scurried about, gathering crumbs of cake, bits of cheese, and a few grains of sugar. They even managed to steal a tiny, colourful ribbon from under the Christmas tree. They wrapped their treasures in a tiny, handmade box, tied with the ribbon, and placed it under the Christmas tree in their living room.

On Christmas Eve, they led their grandma to the tree, eyes sparkling with anticipation. As Grandma Millie unwrapped the gift, her whiskers twitched with curiosity. When she opened the box, her eyes widened in surprise. Instead of a grand feast, she found a single, tiny crumb.

The children's hearts sank. They had worked so hard, only to disappoint their grandma. But Grandma Millie, ever the optimist, chuckled softly. "Oh, my dears," she said, "This tiny crumb is the sweetest gift of all. It's a symbol of your love and effort."

She took a bite of the crumb, savouring every morsel. "And now," she added, "let's have a real feast. We'll share our simple meal, and the joy of being together will make it the most delicious meal of all."

And so, the Mouse family gathered around their simple table, sharing stories, laughter, and the joy of the season. They realised that the true spirit of Christmas wasn't about grand gifts or lavish feasts. It was about love, family, and the simple pleasure of being together.

The end.
